Typhoon in Philippines Presents Urgent Need
Date: Tues, 1 July 2008
Good Morning, from your missionary in the Philippines, Peg Lamb.
I arrived in the Philippines on May 26, 2008. As you may be aware the PI was hit hard with Typhoon Frank. Where I am in Manila, we were not hit as hard, but we had deep water even where I was driving during the early stage to the Typhoon. Some areas of Manila were under water eight feet. The area where I lived last term (Roxas City) was effected more so, such many were effected to the point the church where I attended (FARM - First Assembly Roxas Mission) opened its doors for many to find refuge. Just 2 hours up the way (Kalibo) and 2 1/2 hrs. the other direction (Iloilo) were very much effected. File attachments: 4 pictures of Kalibo disaster. Already we've had Convoy of Hope go in with some help... but still there is much to do. We are in need of relief funds.
Right in the midst of all this we have a Building team from Scottsdale, AZ (flying today) almost exactly where the ship overturned where we had a great loss of people, plus all the barrels filled with toxins. The team will be taking a small boat across these waters, and then travel up island about 3 hours to the site where they will build a small tabernacle (Bayanihan - Church Building Partners). Three years ago, I met this team, making sure all was ready for them to go into a very remote place, a sea side town which they have greatly impacted for Christ. This is their third visit to the PI to build yet another small tabernacle. PTL for these who go to the tough places!
In just a few days (July) our own Doug Sayers will be bringing in a team of youth from Penn-Del District. I will be meeting up with the team here in Manila before they fly to Iloilo (also effected by Typhoon Frank). They will meet up with our Filipino youth and go to the Island of Guimaras to build yet another small tabernacle. Please pray for these teams, and for the many who are trying to put their lives together again after the Frank Typhoon.
Thank you for your continued support! Prayers are a must for God's protection and I'm greatly appreciative for your faithful financial support. Even with coming back under budget I'm believing God will use many to help me remain... while the door remains open for reaching the PI. Thank you for responding as you read further... and please take note of my field address at the bottom of this e-mail. Continue in His love...

Typhoon in Philippines - Urgent Help Needed
Just a few days ago, Typhoon Frank moved through the Philippines with a devastating impact. In addition to extensive flood damage to thousands of homes with many churches destroyed, a ferry overturned and only a few survived among more than 800 passengers.
Assemblies of God General Superintendent Rey Calusay has appealed for assistance to help the many churches and Christians who have been affected. Regional Director Russ Turney contacted all missionary personnel in the Philippines and asked that each of us send an e-mail to our supporters requesting help. Because of the present disasters in Myanmar and China to which AG World Missions is responding, relief funds are not available to help with the most urgent needs that have been communicated to General Superintendent Rey Calusay by Christian. An immediate $50,000 is urgently needed for materials to help build temporary shelters and rebuild churches in the hardest hit areas. The shelters will provide a way for Christians to minister to their communities by sharing with others in need.
Funds can be transferred immediately to the field as soon as you report the amount of your offering. Either notify AG World Missions by fax (417-831-2709) or call the toll-free number (866-470-9514), which has operators available 24/7.
If you report the pastor’s name, church name, city and state and the amount of the offering you will be sending, Regional Director Russ Turney will immediately be notified and in one day funds can be transferred to the Philippine field for relief efforts even before receiving your check. Indicate when you fax or call that your offering is for “Philippines Typhoon.” Send your check to AG World Missions / P.O. Box 2020 / Springfield, MO 65801, and indicate on the check “Philippine Field 890986-3 (46).”

Thank you in advance for extending Christ’s love to suffering people in the Philippines.
