Newsletter For the Men's Ministry for February, 2011

On Sunday January 23, the men of the church conducted the worship service. Pastor Nick led the singing, Gene Pierce had the prayer and gave a short presentation on the vision for the Men's Ministry. Jude Francis gave the message. It is the consensus of the men active in the ministry that we need to pray for guidance for the ministry and we need to have a heart not only for the lost, but we should we should also have outreach to each other, praying for our families and our personal needs. Prayer is the most important activity we can undertake. Jesus Christ himself admonishes us to fast and pray. As Pentecostals we believe we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit when we accept Jesus Christ into our lives, just as the Jerusalem church received the empowerment to speak out the Word and received a great many converts which is described in Acts. It is through prayer that we have contact with the Divine, that we allow the power of the Spirit to flow through us and empowers us to accomplish God's Will for our lives and for our church. We as a group should take advantage of all the tools we have access to in Christ so our efforts will be successful when we conduct outreach to the community and intercede for our country and the world.

There are members of our ministry that need to be remembered in prayer. Dick Boyer has surgically had a defibulator installed and needs to have prayer for his continued health. John Ciotti has problems breathing which is causing him to miss church on Sunday. Please pray for his recovery. Charles Diener had a fall at home and broke his hip and leg. He has been in intensive care after his surgery but his recovery is complicated by heart problems and fluid in his lungs from the anesthesia. Pastor Eastlake's wife Alice had a fall in the home and while she is having good reports on her recovery, both she and Pastor Eastlake could use your prayers for her continuing recovery. Jude and Merina Francis are in India visiting family, prayer for their safe return and the health of their family would be appreciated. Jack Janes slipped on a patch of ice and did considerable damage to his leg. He needs prayer for himself and his family. Richard Wolfe is under going physical therapy for his back. Pray for him to be returned to our congregation and that he may heal quickly.

The church is being asked to participate in a day of fasting and prayer on March 12, modeled on the day of fasting and prayer as described in Nehemiah 9, in the sanctuary. Begining at 12 PM the fast will continue until 9 PM. There will be speakers giving testimony for the first four hours, and revival prayer afterward. It is hoped the Holy Spirit will come down with power touching hearts and renewing the local church, preparing it to undertake the plan that God has ordained for her.

On March 26, there will be a Men's Breakfast. A great time to meet and fellowship with all the men in the congregation. Pastor Nick is just itching to cook. The breakfast will begin at 9 am. Please make plans to attend. We need you in the ministry.
