Valentine's Day Message
by Church Member Judy Jones
Greetings!
My Dear Friends,
Hello, how is everyone? We are ready to celebrate Valentine's Day. I am great and keeping busy in the snowy weather. Yes, I know everyone is tired of snow and has cabin fever. I loved snow when I was little. My dad made a sled for me, and took me sledding on big hills during his lunch hour. My mom watched me when my dad pulled me to the top of the big hill, I started down and he ran to the bottom of the hill to catch me one time. She could not watch me after that because she was scared I would get hurt. I could not get hurt because I wore a heavy coat and had pillows around me. My mom pulled me on a sled on the streets around us, and my parents made snowmen. My parents treated me like a normal person. I am really thankful about it, because aides have told me some residents have never felt the snow. I really was shocked about it. I stopped liking snow because my mom did not drive in the snow, so I got cabin fever. I started to like snow last winter because I like to stay inside and look out the windows, especially the snow on the trees. There are people who say you can't have your cake and eat it too. I do not agree about that. One of my crazy nurses brought some snowballs and she threw them at us and she put them in residents' clothes one morning. I told her it was a great idea to bring snowballs inside - because it is warm. Two aides did put me in the snow and I made a snow angel last winter. They took pictures of me in the snow. In fact I have the picture saved as a screensaver on my computer for winter. One of my aides gave me snowmen and snowflake earrings for Christmas gifts. I like those earrings, and Mary Campbell Center gave me pajamas with snowmen. Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Like fresh snow is white then snow gets dirty. Like their heart is clean then our heart gets dirty from our sins, so it is really important that our heart stays clean. It is true, keep our heart clean for Jesus' blood.

Last winter I thought I would like to have a bird feeder out by my window. I told the Assistant Director I would like to have a bird feeder. She said she would ask the director. The director told me last spring he would give me one of his bird feeders to put out my window so I kept asking him about the bird feeder every time I saw him. Finally he told me I would have a bird feeder before we would have snow. I laughed and I told myself it's okay, I believe in miracles, and I did get the bird feeder. In fact, I say my prayers in front of my window because of the warmth of the sunshine, I watch the birds eating and I am saying my prayers almost every morning.
I happened to see the bird feeder needed birdseed. I said to myself I need to tell somebody to put seeds in the birdfeeder. Then I saw a man walking by my room. I called him but he did not hear me. Then I turned around to see the bird feeder was full of seeds. The director keeps it filled up with seeds.
I trust that everyone had a good Christmas season. The couple that looks over me now that my dad died picked me up on Christmas Eve to be with their family and it made me feel good. Midge and Gregg made it even nicer by giving me a beautiful pair of heart diamond earrings, a diamond cross necklace, a pair of green hoop earrings and a heavy purple sweater for my Christmas gifts. One of my favorite aides gave me beautiful clothes and another aide gave me a beautiful cream sweater dress for my Christmas gift. You and I know that getting gifts is not the reason for Christmas. You and I know what the true meaning of Christmas is, but we like to give gifts for different reasons during the Christmas season. Men brought gifts to Baby Jesus.
Gregg's mother Marcie gave me a beautiful centerpiece with two ornaments that had engravings reminding me of my mom and my dad. I am thinking of keeping the centerpiece out the whole year. And I am thinking of getting little green bows for St. Patrick's Day and yellow or purple for Easter. I showed it to a lot of people. They loved it and kept asking me where I got it. I tell them the centerpiece is from Midge's husband's mother.
I wanted to write a Valentine's Day letter because I want to let each one of you know I am thinking and praying for you at this time as we celebrate Valentine's season. I hope you will all have a happy Valentine's Day.
In Christian love,
Judy
