Christmas Gifting - A Message from Hal Donaldson

This Christmas, ask the Lord for a special gift. Ask Him to bring healing to the situations and aliments that have caused you pain in the past year. Make a list for the holidays. Not a gift list. Not a guest list. Not a to-do list. This is a list that details your hurts and disappointments. Once your list is complete, place it in your Bible. Then, ask the Lord to perform miracles on your behalf. Ask Him to help you replenish your finances, to restore your broken relationships, to heal your body, to reach your wayward family members. Jesus promised you "good gifts" in Matthew 7:9-11: "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" This Christmas, surrender your worries to Jesus and lay claim to His gifts of peace, rest and comfort. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Hal Donaldson served as editor of the Pentecostal Evangel for 13 years, and leads Convoy of Hope, in Springfield Montana.

The Name Jesus: A Christmas Musical Celebrating Emmanuel, the King of Kings

Why This Musical?

There are thousands of Christmas musicals available for churches to choose from and present this time of year. Why this particular musical? I think the words of the musician who put this musical together answer that question. Here is some of what he said:

"The world in which we live doesn't really mind people talking about religion or praying to a 'higher power'... All is well until the name Jesus Christ is spoken. I believe the name Jesus is the lightning rod...it is intimidating and convicting. It divides good and evil...right and wrong."

"The more I thought about the intolerance of the world toward the Lord Jesus Christ, the more I desired to proclaim His name and the life changing power that it brings. The songs and narration contained in this Christmas project are my loving attempt to make known what I believe is the only hope humanity has...the name - Jesus."

Our military personnel are deployed world-wide to protect, not only our freedom, but the freedom of the world! Celebrate the 4th of July, but remember the lives lost and broken - in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Sunday, 6/21/09: Happy Father's Day!

God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree, the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea, the generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night, the wisdom of the ages, the power of the eagle's flight, the joy of a morning in spring, the faith of a mustard seed, the patience of eternity, the depth of a family need, then God combined these qualities. When there was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete. And so, He called it ...Dad.

5/31/09: Pentecost Sunday - Commemorating the decent of the Holy spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2. Join us today at noon for a Fellowship Luncheon - even if you have not signed up, please stay and enjoy great food!

  • Acts 2:1-4 "When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."
  • Acts 2:14-21 " Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: " 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Matthew 22:34-40 "Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?' Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.'"
